Singapore LSMGO leads weekend price gains as fuel oil grades edge up
What it means for buyers
Gasoil buyers in Singapore should expect firmer offers than late last week, while fuel oil grades moved far less.
Engine's Monday price check for Singapore, taken at midday local time and compared with Friday, shows all four tracked grades higher. The move was uneven. LSMGO posted the biggest gain by a wide margin, while VLSFO and HSFO each rose only slightly and B30-VLSFO was close to flat.
The gasoil move follows a pattern from late last week. In its East of Suez update for 23 October, Engine said LSMGO prices had risen in Singapore, Fujairah and Zhoushan, while Brent futures climbed on worries about supply disruption in the Middle East.
For a buyer, the practical point is grade-specific. Ships that need a sizeable distillate top-up in Singapore, for example ahead of an ECA leg, are likely to see firmer offers than late last week. It is worth fixing quantity and timing early rather than waiting. Ships lifting mainly VLSFO or HSFO face a calmer picture for now. Crude is still sensitive to Middle East headlines, and a further jump would feed through to every grade.
