Singapore lead times stretch further as fuel oil stocks slip 6%
What it means for buyers
Buyers calling Singapore should book VLSFO and HSFO two to three weeks ahead and LSMGO at least a week out.
Enterprise Singapore data cited by Engine shows the port's residual fuel oil inventories averaged about 18.52 million barrels so far in October. That is 6% below the September average and under the 19 million barrel mark.
The drop came even though net fuel oil imports rose 9% over the same period. Imports went up and exports went down, yet stocks still fell. Middle distillate inventories moved the other way, rising 10% to about 9.35 million barrels.
On the water, the market stays tight. Engine reports these advised lead times, with the previous week in brackets:
- VLSFO: now 14-21 days (previously 11-18)
- HSFO: now 12-21 days (previously 11-17)
- LSMGO: now 7-14 days (previously 6-9)
For anyone with a Singapore call in early or mid November, the practical point is timing. Send enquiries for residual grades as soon as the ETA is firm, and do not count on short-notice stems. Higher distillate stocks have not yet shortened LSMGO lead times, so plan gasoil early too.
