Supply in 2026

Supply has been disrupted since March 2026. Suppliers declared force majeure after Iranian strikes damaged storage on 3 March. The port stayed open and some barges kept delivering at the anchorage, but sales stayed far below normal: June 2026 was 85% down on June 2025.

Where bunkering happens

Ships take bunkers at anchor. The Port of Fujairah runs the Fujairah Anchorage Area with up to 174 anchor positions, and about 12,500 ships called there in 2023. Fuel comes alongside by barge.

  • Zones BN and BS are set aside for bunkers, lube oil and de-sloping.
  • Tankers calling at the offshore terminals take bunkers in zone T.
  • Ships over 300 m use zones VN and VS.

Grades

VLSFO is the main grade: 4.72 million m³ of 380 VLSFO was sold in 2025. HSFO 380 is growing as more ships with scrubbers call and reached about 30% of sales in 2025. LSMGO is available for ships that need distillates.

Biofuel blends are on offer: the first B24 stem was delivered at the anchorage in December 2023 and the first B30 in June 2025. LNG bunkering is not offered in Fujairah yet. The UAE's first LNG bunkering took place at Dubai Harbour in January 2025.

Local rules

Fujairah is not in an Emission Control Area, so the global 0.50% sulphur cap applies. Mass flow meters are not mandatory: the port said in 2023 it was studying them and wants a UAE-wide approach. Bunker suppliers need a licence from the Port of Fujairah.

How we arrange your stem in Fujairah

  1. Enquiry. Vessel, IMO number, ETA in Fujairah, grades and quantities.
  2. Firm offer. Price, delivery window, payment terms, valid until a stated time. We negotiate with suppliers for the best credit terms on your behalf.
  3. Nomination. You confirm the stem, we place it with the supplier and send delivery details to the ship and agent.
  4. Delivery and BDN. The supplier delivers alongside and hands over the Bunker Delivery Note.

Roadstead is a bunker broker. We do not run our own barges; the fuel is delivered by a licensed physical supplier at the port.

Questions about bunkering in Fujairah

Is Fujairah in an Emission Control Area?

No. The global 0.50% sulphur cap applies, so ships burn VLSFO, or HSFO if they have a scrubber.

Are mass flow meters mandatory in Fujairah?

Not as of 2026. Quantity is measured on the barge, so many buyers appoint an independent bunker surveyor.

Can I get biofuel in Fujairah?

Yes. B24 has been delivered since December 2023 and B30 since June 2025. Tell us the blend you need and we will check who can supply it.

Is Fujairah supplying normally in 2026?
