Singapore VLSFO and LSMGO prices climb over the weekend, HSFO edges up
What it means for buyers
Buyers fixing Singapore stems this week face firmer VLSFO and LSMGO, while HSFO has barely moved.
Bunker prices in Singapore rose for all three main grades between Friday and midday Monday local time, according to ENGINE data. LSMGO posted the largest gain, VLSFO also climbed clearly, and HSFO moved up only slightly.
Because VLSFO rose much more than HSFO, the gap between the two grades widened over the weekend. A wider HSFO-VLSFO spread means ships with scrubbers save more by burning HSFO. Gasoil saw the steepest change, which matters for vessels that need distillates for ECA voyages.
For ships with Singapore calls in the coming days, it pays to compare quotes on the day of fixing rather than lean on last week's levels. One weekend was enough to shift the picture for VLSFO and LSMGO, while vessels able to burn HSFO face the smallest increase.
