Singapore fuel oil stocks rise, bunker lead times still long
What it means for buyers
Book Singapore stems early - VLSFO and HSFO still need about 10-15 days notice despite a modest stock build.
Singapore residual fuel oil inventories rose about 4% on a monthly average in September, to 19.75 million barrels, based on Enterprise Singapore figures carried by ENGINE. Levels still sat under 20 million barrels even after net fuel oil imports climbed 21%.
Bunker availability remains constrained despite below-average demand. Recommended lead times for VLSFO are around 10-15 days, shorter than the 13-17 days advised a week earlier. Most suppliers are keeping low stock levels, and cargo delays linked to the Middle East conflict continue to squeeze supply.
HSFO has tightened further, with advised lead times up to around 10-15 days from 9-12 days previously. LSMGO looks healthier, with lead times of about five days, improved from 5-7 days.
For operators calling Singapore, the stock build has not restored prompt cover on fuel oil grades. Allow roughly two weeks for VLSFO or HSFO stems, and confirm LSMGO closer to arrival if schedules shift.
